More of the genre lists?

Hi there!
I saw you have the genre list for Historical Fiction already posted, which is AWESOME! I'm wondering if you'll be posting additional lists? I'm trying to convince everyone in all my MLIS classes that Bookmarks is the more amazing, useful, informative and awesome resource out there, especially for those of us in Reader's Advisory classes and the like.
Also, could you possibly do a feature or start showcasing more YA lit? There's so much out there, and it's not just for teens, you know! :D
Thanks a bunch and have a great day,
sk

More Word Out There!

Hi -- Just joined and hope to be messaging here often. I'd like to vote for the YA literature also and agree that it's not just for teens. I am 59 and just ordered a new book that looks great -- GREEHEE THE JOURNEY OF FIVE. Meanwhile, I have showcased Bookmarks magazine a few times on my podcast which is called BookHobby and happens about once a month available over on iTunes. In one segment we talk a little about what the book magazines are doing for the month and BookMarks has been the star of the show a few times and your Nov/Dec issue will be featured in our next cast. Thank you for the great magazine. Having worked for various magazines I know what dedication and work is involved! Best,

Thanks ... and more to come!

Sarah,

Thanks so much for getting our name out there; we're so grateful for that. Breaking into libraries was tougher than we thought ... even after Library Journal names us one of the best new magazines, etc., etc.!

Yes, our top priority will be getting me genre lists up and promoting them better online. So stay tuned for that. And as far as YA stuff goes, we're publishing a "Beyond Harry Potter Part II" column in our upcoming Nov/Dec issue, focusing on mysteries for younger readers. And in that issue I committed to getting "Beyond Harry Potter Part I" up online ... we need to get busy!

Thank you again for spreading the word ... that makes my day!

Jon

YA = Young Adult, not Ya Ya sisterhood - ha ha ha ha

I have learned a lesson on lingo. YA means young adult, not Ya Ya sisterhood stuff! At first I thought you were asking for more ya ya sisterhood books, and consequently laughed, as I thought that maybe there were more importnat lists to be developed before that one. Once I realized you were talking about Young Adult I was delighted to see the interest. Two genres that I think are highly underrated is Young Adult, and graphic novels. Bookmarks did a piece on Graphic Novels a few years ago, and I would love to see a review of what is the latest and greatest in that genre. I am a school teacher and find that some of the 'historical' graphic novels are just the kind of thing to get young adults (and myself) lost into something new.
